Paris is flea market heaven, and the mother of all flea markets is Marche aux Puces de Clignancourt. Dating back to 1920 and boasting up to 3,000 stalls, this daily flea market purveys everything from jewelry, chandeliers, fabric, and paintings to musical instruments, vintage postcards, and eclectic French collections. For antique aficionados, this is pure bliss.Spent the afternoon at the marche aux puces de clignancourt on the look out for an editorial story angle. We met up with Philippe Pellerin, president of l’A.M.V who very kindly introduced us to some of the patrons of the marche Vernaison. There is so much to take in, we are going back soon for some more encounter with the locals. I love this place !

I have just completed a story on a squat located on the “place des vosges” in Paris. A day and a life of a group of bright student and highly qualified young professionals who simply cannot afford to have a “home” and pay the kind of rent that a Paris Landlord is asking for, because of lack of resource and credentials.

Squatting in Paris

Ongoing article on the Paris based association “Jeudi Noir”, a group aiming to put housing issues on the political agenda. The article is focusing on an uninhabited space of 30 years, located on place des Vosges in Paris. “Jeudi Noir” took control of the hotel particulier in november. This space is now providing a roof to over 32 people, both students and professionals.
I will be going back to complete the story early next week. Meanwhile a few portraits of the occupants, taken yesterday in Paris.

Each day, an estimated 500,000 people pass through Times Square, Over 30 million people visit Times Square annually, Times Square is home to the world’s largest New Year’s Eve celebrations,attracting one million visitors, with another billion people worldwide watching the celebration on air.More than 75 million people use public transportation into and out of Times Square each year. $1.2 billion in retail sales annually in the Times Square area. Over 35 Broadway theaters and 300 restaurants in the immediate vicinity. An estimated 158,000 people work in Times Square each day. Approximately 35,000 residents live in the Times Square area.
Times Square – 42nd Street is the busiest station complex of the New York City Subway, joining four lines (three trunk lines plus the 42nd Street Shuttle), with a free transfer via a passageway to a fifth (42nd Street – Port Authority Bus Terminal on the IND Eighth Avenue Line (A C E). It lies under Times Square, at the intersection of 42nd Street, 7th Avenue and Broadway. The entire complex served 60,880,668 passengers in 2009.

My editorial work is distributed via The Cover Story. It has been a long & fruitful collaboration from New York City. One of my last New York City story “Residing in Style” is featured in this month of february. It is about Hip and classy NYC destination hotels; a fresh breed of designer hotels drawing visitors back to the Big Apple as attractions in their own right.
Since I moved to Paris, I have left the editorial side of my photography to concentrate more on corporate visuals. Paris is a gold mine for vibrant features though and I thought it is way time to explore its editorial richness!

Portrait at a Medieval fair

A few portraits taken with a 5×4 field camera and Provia NC film at a Medieval fair in the Puy de Dome region in France. They are part of a reportage for Air Malaysia in-flight magazine. Meanwhile, working on a new DVD portfolio with W.A.MOZART concerto n°23′adagio’ as an optional background music! It actually does look great and i cannot wait to send it out and get some feedback on new images.
