London, U.K – photo reportage corporate for Bouygues construction in the east end for two days. Did managed to call a couple of old buddies photographers I had not seen for a few years. Due to tight schedule, I couldn’t catch up unfortunately. i had not been back for quite sometimes in drizzle city. Some things have changed and others have not. The weather was everything I did not remember. Beautiful!
I had to do a few illustration shots so wandered down the streets of the west end. Came back to my mind the days where I was in my 20’s, studying photography and assisting before I took off to Australia!

” …Belleville which in English translates to “beautiful town ” , is a neighborhood in the 19th and 20th arrondissement in Paris . Originally this was an independent municipality until 1860. This area has always been very working class full of small family owned factories , few of those original factories exist today. This area is a wonder for your eyes , while walking down the narrow streets now filled with the melting pot communities , Algerians, Tunisian Jews and a big Asian population I feel as though I have been in four different countries all in one day. Belleville has also in the last decade become the home of many artists , who took advantage of the abandoned factories and turned them into workshops .On a sunny day in May I wondered into vast artist haven , pushing big wood doors to discover a little paradise and visit a small selection of the artists who have set up house in Belleville. There are more than 400 artists who work here, artists ateliers can vary from small studios to 300 square meter artist squats…”

Testing my new D3s nikon camera on a multimedia slideshow about Wrestling in Paris. I had received the camera a couple of hours before heading out for a job. Just had time to charge the batteries, find a bag … and some film. Oups no – It is digital of course! It is great piece of equipment, a bit on the heavy side. I have small hands and so much used to the D700 which is so practical for reportage. It was hard to let go of my D700 actually and try out my new photographic tool. I shot most of the photos on ISO 1200 and i must say the range of tone is quite impressive and pixels look great. It is a real pleasure for low lighting situation. The time-lapse was shot in Raw of course and includes some 750 images that fit into a super fast 16gig card.

Wrestling at Cirque d’hiver Paris

Ongoing photo story on the French Wrestling revival, I went on to photograph a European wrestling event hosted by Mr Flesh Gordon at the Cirque d’hiver in Paris. Soon off to photograph a wrestling school and take a serie of portraits of the participants. Fun, It was refreshing to watch, quite entertaining actually. Kids sitting in the first rows were having a hell of a good time, cheering at their heroes. Looking forward to more super heroes encounters, I am becoming a groupie.

Paris is flea market heaven, and the mother of all flea markets is Marche aux Puces de Clignancourt. Dating back to 1920 and boasting up to 3,000 stalls, this daily flea market purveys everything from jewelry, chandeliers, fabric, and paintings to musical instruments, vintage postcards, and eclectic French collections. For antique aficionados, this is pure bliss.Spent the afternoon at the marche aux puces de clignancourt on the look out for an editorial story angle. We met up with Philippe Pellerin, president of l’A.M.V who very kindly introduced us to some of the patrons of the marche Vernaison. There is so much to take in, we are going back soon for some more encounter with the locals. I love this place !
